Australia Blue Eyed Boy 2014 by MollyDooker Approx. $50 94 points Gift from Brian O on October 3, 2016 Shiraz Southern Australia Following up the gorgeous '13 'Blue Eyed Boy' this 2014 'Blue Eyed Boy' bottling weighs in at 15.5% alcohol and was sourced from the Joppich vineyard in Langhorne Creek and the Gateway and Kirwin vineyards in McLaren Vale. This rich Shiraz begins with aromas of blueberry compote, black raspberry, smoked meats, cedar and black cherry. This leads to dense flavors of blueberry pie, blackberry, mocha and roasted dates. This decadent wine is done in the viscous and opulent style, with mouthwatering fruit and lovely fruit weight that makes it impossible to resist. (Best 2016-2024) -  April, 2016 (OB)

Beverages: Drink or Hold? Capacity of Site/Age worthiness

Drink or Hold? How long will a wine age?  History shows that long-lived wines have what might be called a "capacity of site." Age a wine is an expectation that it will transform into something more dimensional and layered - in other words, a fuller, richer experience, not just a smoother ride.  But, there is no guarantee.  No single factor ensures age worthiness. by Matt Kramer Wine Spectator Oct 2016

Schramsberg I joined Schramsberg Cellar Club in December 2015.  It was a Christmas gift to myself.  This is also the very first wine club I joined. The Schramsberg estate is tucked into the densely forested slopes of Diamond Mountain, a few miles south of the town of Calistoga, and is home to the oldest hillside vineyards in Napa. It totals 218 acres with 43 acres planted to vines. Before my time, Schramsberg played a role in world history. The Blanc de Blancs was used for President Nixon’s 1972 “Toast to Peace” with China’s Premier Zhou Enlai. Schramsberg’s sparkling wines have been served at official State functions by every U.S. Presidential administration since.  First Shipment, December 2015 4 bottles $220 2007 J. Beverages: DOC and DOCG

DOC Denominazione di origine controllata  ( DOC ) ( pronounced  [denominatˈtsjoːne di oˈriːdʒine kontrolˈlaːta] ;  English : controlled designation of origin) is a  quality assurance  label for  Italian   food  products, especially  Italian wine  and  cheese  ( Denominazione di origine protetta ).  Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC):  DOC wines are much more commonly found. The rules governing quality and authenticity are still very strict, but they're a little more generous than those for DOCG status. For instance, the geographic zone might be a little bigger or the rules about what kind of grapes might be a little more relaxed. DOCG Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG):  Seeing this on the label of your wine bottle means that the wine producers followed the strictest regulations possible to make that wine. The wine was tested a committee that then guarantees the geographic authenticity of the wine and its quality. There are currently only a handfu
